ドメーヌのグランクリュの中でも特に人気の高かったEchezeaux Vieille Vigneが2011年産を持ってリリースが一旦終わる事となった。

何故なら、このVielle Vigneの区画をオスピスに売却したからだ。Echezeaux Vieille Vigneに替わるキュヴェとして、2012年産から新たにEchezeaux “Grand Complication”(エシェゾー グランド･コンプリケーション)というキュヴェがリリースされた。

グランド･コンプリケーションとは、パーペチュアルカレンダー、トゥールビヨン、ミニッツリピーター、スプリットセコンドクロノグラフなどのいわゆる時計の4大機構である超複雑機構を、複数搭載した腕時計の総称で、複雑な味わいが絡み合うモンジャール･ミュニュレの新たなエシェゾーを表現するのに最適であることから採用された。

このワインは現当主ヴァンサンの父が1945年に植樹した区画から造られる。

樹齢70年。新樽比60-80%。

Tasting note: Here too the wood treatment is not subtle though it does not dominate the very ripe plum, spice, earth, Asian spice and floral scents. I very much like the texture of the powerful, sappy and concentrated flavors that deliver outstanding length on the highly complex finale where the wood displayed by the nose resurfaces. The generous oak is a mild concern though my range implicitly assumes that it will eventually be absorbed over time.
